20 Anti-Inflammatory Foods To Help Get Back In The Game

They Always Miss This Cause of Your Pain

One of our elite runners had this crazy butt pain last season. We tweaked his running technique, filled strength gaps and things settled so he could do his races…But he still had niggles. We had to manage the load. If the kilometres increased, so did the pain and sometimes it stirred up for no reason at all.

We finally got him to do a food diary and found out, he was binging one and a half 4-litre tubs of ice cream each week, (I’m not kidding, and this guy is race-lean)! He would mix it with chocolate sauce like a smoothie. With his rehab, we then started to notice that he was sorer on training days after gluttony nights.

So we experimented for two weeks without the ice cream specials. His pain backed off by 80%. This was enough to get him to see the light and head towards moderation. The pain disappeared, just like magic. This isn’t the only time we’ve seen diet changes ease chronic injuries. It’s now front of mind for me to help patients know that inflammatory foods, trans fats, sugar, gluten, and (the list goes on), can be a major driver of pain.

To help you out, I’ve put together a list of the 20 Best Anti-Inflammatory Foods to counteract the fire in the body. It’s a start towards easing your pain and keeping fit for life, Enjoy.

The body is tricky and there are no guarantees in life, but it’s important, I think, to reject the concept of fate. Not to lay blame at your, (or anyone’s) feet, but to sharpen focus on gaining the skills to steer and guide your ship. Keeping quality of life is a skill that rewards above anything else. The cool thing is, these, hard-won pearls can open new worlds for you and we dream that you pass them on to the next generation.
